Tax software in Spanish: what it should have
If you, or someone you help, would rather do taxes in Spanish, the program you choose matters as much as the language. This guide sets out what to check before you decide: the interview, the IRS forms, ITIN filing, help in Spanish and the price. For each point, it also says how Vordana Tax handles it.

A full interview in Spanish, not a half translation
Look for a program where the questions and the explanations beside them are in Spanish, not only the menus. Tax questions are hard enough in your first language, and an English sentence in the middle of a Spanish screen is usually the one that matters.
Vordana Tax: the interview is available in Spanish, and you can switch between Spanish and English at any point without losing what you have entered. That helps when one person in a household reads English better and another reads Spanish better.
IRS forms in Spanish, where the IRS publishes them
The IRS publishes Spanish versions of some of its forms, such as Form 1040 and several of its schedules, but not all of them. A program that promises every form in Spanish is promising something the IRS does not publish.
Vordana Tax: your return can print on the IRS's official Spanish forms where the IRS publishes them, and on the English forms otherwise. The return sent to the IRS electronically is the same whichever language you prepare it in.
Filing with an ITIN
If you, your spouse or your dependents have an ITIN instead of a Social Security number, check that the program lets you enter it and e-file with it.
Vordana Tax: you can prepare and e-file your federal return with an ITIN. We don't prepare Form W-7, the ITIN application, so if you still need an ITIN, apply to the IRS first and file with us once you have it.
Your situation: W-2, 1099 and owing the IRS
Check that the program covers how you earned your money: a W-2 job, self-employment or gig work reported on a 1099, or both in the same year.
Vordana Tax: W-2 wages, 1099 self-employment income (Schedule C) and the credits that often come with a family, such as the Child Tax Credit and the Earned Income Tax Credit, are all part of the interview, and you can upload your W-2 and 1099s instead of typing them. If you owe and can't pay at once, you can request an IRS monthly payment plan (Form 9465) inside your return. The IRS decides whether to approve it, and IRS fees and interest may apply.
Help in Spanish, by phone and chat
Ask whether you can reach a person in Spanish, how, and what it costs. Software in Spanish with help only in English leaves you stuck at the hardest moment.
Vordana Tax: customer support by phone and chat is offered in Spanish and is always free. If you have a question about your return, you can talk to or chat with a tax expert; our expert team includes Spanish speakers, and Vordana Tax is backed by an IRS Enrolled Agent. Expert help is an optional paid service. You can also ask for a free automated review of your return before you file.
Free options from the IRS
If your income is below the limit the IRS sets each year, you may be able to file for free through IRS Free File, and the IRS's VITA program offers free tax preparation by volunteers it trains at community sites. If you qualify and they work for you, they are worth a look before you pay anyone.
The price, before you pay
Look for a program that shows you your full price before you pay, including any state return and any paid help.
Vordana Tax: entering your return is free, and checkout shows your full price, line by line, before you pay anything.
You can also split our fee into 4 interest-free payments with Klarna, subject to Klarna's approval.
